Homer "Bud" Appleyard

Homer “Bud” Appleyard, 92, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in a local nursing home. He was born on October 26, 1924 in Tuscaloosa, AL to Homer and Addie Mae (Burroughs) Appleyard. He was an Army veteran of WWII and was in the 16th Armor Division. He was a retired engineer from OG&E. Bud was an avid tennis player and represented Arkansas in the Senior Olympics. Funeral services are 10:00AM, Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with private burial to follow. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Drusilla, of the home; two daughters, Jeanne Appleyard Pillar and her husband Dan of Fort Smith, AR and Terry Appleyard Post and her husband Chris of Mineral Wells, TX; one son, Alan Appleyard and his wife Tina of Fort Smith, AR: seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Pallbearers are Alan Appleyard, Dan Pillar, Chris Post, Christopher Post, Matthew Appleyard, Brian Pillar, Greg Pillar and Nathan Appleyard. The family will visit with friends from 5-7PM on Friday, September 22nd at the funeral home.
